The Kazakh film Alga won two awards at the 14th
International Sports Film Festival in Iran. Yernar Nurgaliev was recognized as
Best Director, while Erik Zholzhaksynov received the Best Supporting Actor
award, as reported by the country’s Ministry of Culture and Information. Alga
tells the story of two brothers who, after the tragic death of their father,
turn to crime. However, their lives change when an athletics coach visits their
village to scout for talented youth. One of the brothers eventually competes
against a world marathon champion.
