Kazakh band popularizes traditional music in China

Kazakh music takes over China. Musicians from Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region revive traditional melodies. They formed a band of eight people from among the Han and Kazakh ethnicities three years ago. They named the band “Narat”, which means “the place where sunlight is born”. The band is becoming more and more popular today both among local residents and tourists who come here to enjoy the sound of Kazakh traditional songs. The band members use folk instruments, the sound of which gives authentic spirit to the compositions. The young musicians plan to go on a tour as soon as the pandemic ends.

“We are talking about contemporary music with folk elements. Our task is to acquaint as many people as possible with our history and culture,” said Mahzan Beysemhan, the musician of Narat band.

“During the concert, tourists feel the harmony of music and nature. I think that this is the main goal of our creativity,” said Halem Alemjan, the musician of Narat band.
