Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart
Tokayev received Minister of Defense Ruslan Zhaksylykov, who presented to the
Head of State a report on the results of the ministry’s work for the current year.
The Minister also briefed the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of Kazakhstan’s Armed
Forces on new approaches to military training and the state of the training and
testing grounds. According to Zhaksylykov, special attention is now given to
the fulfillment of state defense orders and the arrival of new models of
aviation equipment, including unmanned complexes, armament of air defense
forces, upgraded armored vehicles and communication means. On his part,
President Tokayev emphasized the need to enhance the capabilities of the Kazakh
peacekeeping contingent for participation in the UN missions. The Kazakh leader
assigned several tasks to the relevant ministry, including cooperation with the
domestic defense enterprises, development of territorial defense, special
operations forces and strengthening of military and patriotic work.
