Kazakhstan plans to launch air taxi service

An air taxi service will appear in Kazakhstan. The system is planned to be launched in the new city of Alatau, with integration into Almaty. A corresponding memorandum of understanding was signed in the U.S. by the Kazakh Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development, Alatau Advance Air Group, the American company Joby Aero, and entrepreneur Vyacheslav Kim. The partners will invest around $300 million in the purchase of eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) aircraft. Their price, depending on the model and configuration, ranges from $200,000 to $10 million. The aircraft will form the basis of Kazakhstan’s first urban air mobility project. The ministry emphasized that in the coming years, it is planned to create a test site for certification and demonstration flights, as well as integrate the air taxis into the urban transport network.
