The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has
invested around $7 billion in Kazakhstan over the past 30 years. In particular,
the bank participated in the construction of the Western Europe – Western China
international corridor and the reconstruction of the Aktobe – Kandyagash road.
At a meeting with ADB President Masatsugu Asakawa, President Kassym-Jomart
Tokayev expressed Kazakhstan’s appreciation for the bank’s role in advancing
key infrastructure projects and strengthening the national financial system. Tokayev
highlighted decarbonizing the economy as a promising area for future
collaboration, and Asakawa commended Kazakhstan’s progress in economic reforms.
The parties are set to sign an over $300 million agreement to finance the
Kyzylorda – Zhezkazgan highway construction.
