Kassym-Jomart Tokayev participates in state flag-raising ceremony

Kazakhstan is marking an important holiday – State Symbols Day. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took part in the solemn flag-raising ceremony. The Head of State noted that the Coat of Arms, Anthem, and Flag embody the values of the nation and reflect its national identity. They also represent statehood. President Tokayev emphasized that strengthening the prestige of national symbols is a matter of national importance. In the near future, the Government will introduce amendments to the resolution regulating their use. Respect for state symbols is enshrined in the Constitution and reflects the patriotism of citizens.

«We adopted a new Constitution, opening a new chapter in our history. The Basic Law reflects the centuries-long aspirations, goals, and ideals of our people. Territorial integrity, national sovereignty, and rights and freedoms of citizens have been enshrined as core values. Upholding law and order, advancing education, science, and new technologies, preserving cleanliness, protecting the environment, and supporting volunteer work have been defined as constitutional duties,» President Tokayev noted.

This year Kazakhstan is celebrating the 35th anniversary of its Independence. The Head of State noted that the year is marked by a large-scale transformation of the entire country. The new Constitution will enter into force on July 1. In August, elections to the unicameral Kurultai will be held, and in September the Kazakhstan Khalyk Kenesi (Peoples Council) will be formed. At the new stage of reforms, all progressive socio-political forces must consolidate around national values and goals, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated. He also emphasized the importance of preserving continuity between generations, which is also reflected in the new Constitution.

«The modern presidential system of government firmly established in Kazakhstan traces its origins to the political system created during the era of the Golden Horde. Its main legacy is the enduring values that, under a common set of rules, united people of different religions, languages, cultures, and traditions across a vast state,» President Tokayev added.

President Tokayev emphasized that the foundation of Kazakhstan’s sustainable progress is rooted in the unbreakable link between the past, present, and future. Therefore, values must be adapted to modern realities. Today, the worldview and behavioral patterns of Kazakh citizens are changing. Solidarity, hard work, and discipline are coming to the forefront, the Head of State noted. At the same time, digitalization and artificial intelligence are opening up significant opportunities for youth development. The initiative announced by the President a year earlier has now been implemented. The best graduates of military educational institutions were awarded the rank of senior lieutenant for the first time. President Tokayev noted that such trust comes with special responsibility, and a true officer earns respect not through rank, but through faithful service to the country.
