Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev personally welcomed the
Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty (People’s Council) of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, upon his arrival in Turkistan. They visited
the Khoja Ahmed Yasawi Mausoleum, one of the spiritual and historical-cultural
landmarks of the Turkic world, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also toured the Ethnoaul
complex within the Azret Sultan reserve. They were presented with national
dishes and works of weavers, potters, and jewelers. The program featured a
theatrical performance showcasing Kazakh customs and traditions. Next, they
visited the Turkistan visit centre and were briefed on development and
restoration projects at the ancient Kultobe settlement, including plans for its
museumification. Archaeological excavations across a 27-hectare area have
already been completed. The high-ranking guests were also presented with the
concept of the center of artisans, which is set to open in the near future. It
will house artisan workshops, national gastronomic centers, an oriental bazaar,
and hotels.
