President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received the President of the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI), or the International Canine Federation, Tamás Jakkel. During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in the development of domestic dog breeding and the preservation of a sustainable gene pool of breeds. Following systematic efforts, nearly 4,000 Tazy dogs have been registered in the Unified Stud Book of the Union of Cynologists of Kazakhstan, and relevant legislative acts have been adopted. In the Zhetisu region, a National Center for scientific and canine support for breeders is set to open soon. Starting this year, September 3 will be observed in Kazakhstan as the Day of the Kazakh Tazy and Tobet. Jakkel expressed his gratitude to Tokayev for his attention to the preservation of national dog breeds. At the end of the meeting, the President of Kazakhstan awarded the FCI President the Order of Dostyk, 2nd Class.
«I offered my partners here of the Kazakh Canine Club. It’s a young team, very professional, very ambitious. And they already did a lot of things, like they helped the country to get your Kazakh Tazy breed accepted by the World Organization. Actually, he’s having dogs, so he even mentioned the name of the dogs, and he was very enthusiastic. He asked what needs this breed to be finally recognized. Another 8 years is needed for that,» Jakkel said.
