After the conclusion of bilateral talks, the Presidents of Kazakhstan and Russia held a briefing for media representatives. The sides noted that the talks took place in a businesslike and constructive atmosphere and that strategic agreements were reached. According to Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, there are strong grounds to consider energy as a highly successful area of cooperation. This is further supported by the signed agreements on the construction of the Balkhash nuclear power plant. President Tokayev described Russian President Vladimir Putin’s state visit as highly successful and expressed confidence that it will be recorded in the history of strategic partnership and allied relations between the two countries as an event of particular significance.
«The signed documents and agreements reached reflect the essence of the Kazakhstan-Russia partnership – uniting traditions of friendship and good-neighbourliness with a shared aspiration for progress across all areas of public life. In conclusion, I would once again like to express sincere gratitude to the President of the Russian Federation for his historically significant contribution to the development of Kazakhstan-Russia relations. With great satisfaction, I would also like to emphasize that the results of your state visit have confirmed the special nature of multifaceted interstate cooperation,» Tokayev said.
«We thoroughly discussed key issues of bilateral cooperation in politics, economy, and cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as current matters on the international agenda. A joint statement was signed outlining priority tasks for strengthening the entire range of Russian-Kazakh cooperation. A number of important intergovernmental and interagency documents were also concluded, covering a wide range of sectors,» Putin said.
The Presidents of Kazakhstan and Russia were also presented with joint
industrial cooperation projects in sectors such as metallurgy, petrochemicals,
and mechanical engineering. Another 24 projects worth $10 billion are currently
under implementation. The leaders were also shown the launch of an unmanned
freight transport route «Astana-Moscow». For the first time globally, freight
trucks covered around 3,000 kilometers in two days, reducing travel time by
more than half. The leaders were also presented with a project on the
reintroduction of Amur tigers. As part of previously reached agreements, the
Russian side transferred four animals, which were released in the Ile-Balkhash
Nature Reserve. In addition, the Heads of State launched the construction of
the «Sirius» school in Astana in an online format, aimed at training a new
generation of competitive specialists in innovative fields.
