The domestic tourism sector is proving highly attractive to investors, as evidenced by the figures. In the first half of this year, investment in the sector reached nearly 600 billion tenge, 27% higher than in the same period last year. Record growth rates were observed in the Ulytau, Aktobe, Atyrau, and Kyzylorda regions. The number of foreign visitors to Kazakhstan is also showing positive dynamics, reaching 7.5 million over six months. This was reported by the relevant ministry at a briefing in Astana. According to the ministry, the growth in inbound tourism is also contributing to financial results. The total revenue of accommodation facilities - from hotels to hostels and recreation centers - exceeded 151 billion tenge, a quarter higher than last year. The ministry has also proposed a number of measures to develop resort areas, including establishing a special legal regime for them.
«It will be similar
to the investment preferences granted to priority tourist areas. It is also proposed to envisage funding for
concessional loans for tourism projects. Additionally, it is important to
establish a system of control and oversight to ensure compliance with mandatory
requirements in resort areas. This system would include both scheduled and
unscheduled inspections, as well as the application of restrictive measures. We
hope that implementing these proposals will allow for comprehensive regulation
of resort areas, improve service quality, and attract more tourists,» noted Nurtas Karipbayev, Chairman of the Tourism Industry Committee at the Kazakh Ministry of Tourism and Sports.
