In 2024, a record 655,000 tourists from China visited Kazakhstan,
marking a 78 percent increase compared to 2023, according to the Ministry of
Tourism and Sports. Ministry representatives note that these figures reflect the
growing interest of Chinese citizens in the country’s cultural heritage and
natural beauty. As part of the Year of Kazakhstan’s Tourism in China, over 200
agreements were signed between regions, travel companies, agencies, and media
platforms. Experts emphasize that these efforts have strengthened cooperation
between the two states. The initiatives received extensive media coverage, with
major Chinese media outlets and social networks - reaching an audience of over one
billion people - featuring Kazakhstan in their programs. According to experts,
this further stimulated interest in the country and contributed to the rise in
visitor numbers.
«We would like to announce that 2025 has officially been declared
the Year of China’s Tourism in Kazakhstan. This reflects the deepening of
bilateral relations and will open up new opportunities for further
strengthening cooperation. These measures not only promote the development of
tourism but also make a significant contribution to enhancing cultural and
economic ties between the two nations,» noted Nurtas Karipbayev, Chairman of
the Tourism Industry Committee of the Kazakh Ministry of Tourism and Sports.
