Kazakhstan’s GDP growth may reach 5% by late 2023

Kazakh Minister of National Economy Alibek Kuantyrov informed the country’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev about preliminary results of social and economic development for the last 10 months of this year, which stipulate that GDP growth may attain five percent. Kuantyrov also reported that the share of small and medium-sized businesses in Kazakhstan’s economy reached almost 37 percent. The volume of foreign direct investment for the first half of the year exceeded $13 billion. The production of SMEs reached 28 trillion tenge, with 9,000 projects being subsidized. Besides, the minister presented to the Head of State a new regulatory policy in the field of entrepreneurship, which will help reduce business inspections twice.

National Bank Head informs President Tokayev about preparations for digital tenge launch

President Tokayev also received Chairman of the Kazakh National Bank Timur Suleimenov, who reported on the progress of preparatory work for the launch of the digital tenge and plans for the development of digital financial infrastructure. The Head of State was briefed on the outcomes of the monetary policy implementation for January-October of this year. Additionally, Suleimenov provided information on the progress of the instructions’ implementation given by the Head of State in his state-of-the-nation address and preparations for the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the national currency.
