A conference dedicated to the memory of Yerbol Shaimerdenov,
the country’s first expert on state symbols, was held in the capital to mark
State Symbols Day. As a member of the state commission, he contributed to the creation
of the flag and coat of arms of independent Kazakhstan. He authored the first
scholarly works on national heraldry. Yerbol Shaimerdenov also left a lasting
mark on literature as the author of poetry collections and prose. Throughout
his life, he dedicated himself to the development of culture and the promotion
of the Kazakh language. Today, researchers are studying his unpublished works,
revealing new facets of his creative and scholarly legacy.
«In addition to works on symbolism, aphorisms, and
journalism, he has authored around twenty poetry collections. Several composers
have written songs and other musical pieces based on his poems, and they remain
popular to this day. However, many of Yerbol Shaimerdenov’s literary works and
translations have not been published and have yet to become part of the people’s
cultural heritage. This remains a task for future generations,» said writer
Kuanysh Zhienbai.
