Direct elections of rural mayors are a new stage of political modernization. The campaign was carried out in accordance with all legislative requirements, domestic experts unanimously said.
“The elections were held everywhere in accordance with the law. The voter turnout was high, in some places it was over 80 percent. We think that the citizens showed interest in the elections and it was important for them,” said Yerlan Sairov, Member of National Council of Public Trust under President of Kazakhstan.
The elected mayors should, first and foremost, look for additional sources of funding for rural budgets. To this end, according to experts, it is necessary to focus on the implementation of investment projects. Attracting qualified professionals is also a priority. For this purpose, elected mayors should turn to state programs such as "With a Diploma - To the Village" and provide remote areas with qualified personnel.
“The selected mayors will need a young and creative team. I mean, a pool of young workers with healthy ambitions and great potential, who will bring a new trend in this or that village. I think that the elections of rural mayors motivate people to return to the villages,” added Tattygul Talayeva, Member of National Council of Public Trust under President of Kazakhstan.
