Resolution on situation in Kazakhstan adopted by EU Parliament is biased, Foreign Ministry says

The resolution on the situation in Kazakhstan adopted by the European Parliament is not only biased but also based on prejudiced opinions and assumptions, the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement. The lack of a credible analysis of the tragic January events is disconcerting, the ministry added. The adoption of a document of this nature before the results of the official investigation are made public is unacceptable. While drafting the resolution, MEPs did not request any clarification or statement from Kazakh officials. The Foreign Ministry emphasized that Kazakhstan, as a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council, is unequivocally committed to the rule of law and fulfilling its obligations in protecting the rights and freedoms of its citizens. The country is also making a significant input to the process of upholding global and regional security, including by fighting international terrorism.
