The Embassy of Moldova has opened in Astana.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Deputy Prime Ministers and Foreign
Ministers of Kazakhstan and Moldova. During their meeting, Murat Nurtleu and
Mihai Popșoi discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation, placing particular
emphasis on trade and economic relations. Last year, trade turnover between the
two countries increased by 75%, reaching $66 million. Overall, the heads of the
foreign ministries expressed their intention to deepen the bilateral
partnership based on friendship and mutually beneficial support, and to work
together on leveraging opportunities in agriculture, transport, industry,
digitalization, as well as in the cultural and humanitarian fields. As part of
efforts to enhance business cooperation, an agreement was reached to hold the
next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission and the first meeting of the
Kazakh-Moldovan business council.
«Kazakhstan views Moldova as a reliable
partner in Eastern Europe, interested in joint development of cooperation. A
stable and constructive political dialogue has been established between our Presidents.
In this context, we are interested in further strengthening mutually beneficial
and long-term cooperation with Chisinau,» noted Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister
and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu.
«The opening of Kazakhstan’s diplomatic
mission in Chisinau in 2020 and the inauguration of our embassy in Astana
during the current official visit mark an important milestone in the
institutionalization of strong relations between our two countries. We are
committed to strengthening our ties in the long term, aiming to build solid and
forward-looking bilateral relations for the benefit of the citizens of both
nations,» said Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mihai
Popșoi.
