New powers conferred on Kazakh government

Additional powers were bestowed upon the government of Kazakhstan. The Kazakh Cabinet of Ministers will have the authority to adopt new laws without the approval of the Parliament in case of a crisis. Such acts will be temporary, pending their approval or rejection by the members of the Senate, Kazakh Minister of Justice Kanat Mussin reported.

“In case it is necessary to prevent any difficult consequences for the country’s economy and people, the government can draft a bill and submit it to the Parliament. Prior to this, they have the authority to issue an order that will have the force of a law and quickly regulate the current difficult situation. In case the Parliament does not adopt it, this temporary government order of an urgent character will be canceled accordingly,” said Mussin.
