In Astana, the Kazakhstan Institute for
Strategic Studies (KazISS) hosted the presentation of a collective monograph
titled ‘Diplomacy of President Tokayev.’ The publication was prepared by
leading analysts and political scientists. The book offers an in-depth and
comprehensive analysis of Kazakhstan’s foreign policy course under the
leadership of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The authors identify three key
principles of diplomacy and examine how the country is adapting to global
challenges. Special attention is given to Kazakhstan’s role in international
organizations, integration initiatives, and cooperation with foreign countries.
The monograph will be made available online in open access. It is intended for specialists,
students, and all those interested in the strategic course of the country’s
foreign policy. The experts also focus on Kazakhstan’s role as a middle power
and its relations with neighboring countries.
«In the international system, major powers
prevail; however, middle powers should also contribute to shaping the global
agenda. By advancing their own peace initiatives and fostering diplomacy, they
should, first and foremost, pursue their national interests,» said Aidar
Kurmashev, Head of the Asian Studies Department at the Kazakhstan Institute for
Strategic Studies under the President of Kazakhstan (KazISS).
