This statement was made by the Chief Researcher of the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology. According to virologist Anatoly Altshtein, most likely there will be no more new waves of COVID-19 and the infection rates will decline. He also noted that even after the pandemic, the serious and lethal cases would not disappear, but will simply decrease. One of the experts on highly dangerous infectious diseases previously suggested that on a planetary scale the coronavirus pandemic might end already in 2022.
