Construction of Bakhty-Ayagoz railway line accelerates in Kazakhstan

A new railway line, Bakhty-Ayagoz, is under construction in Kazakhstan. The project aims to enhance the country’s transport and transit potential. This strategically important route is being built in the Abai region. It is designed to facilitate freight transportation between Kazakhstan and China and significantly increase its capacity. The new railway will stretch nearly 300 kilometers, with 12 stations to be built along the route. Heavy machinery is operating around the clock, and blasting works are being carried out in mountainous areas. The double-track railway is planned to be put into operation in 2027.

«After the onset of severe cold weather, we will relocate from the Bakhty side to the Makanchi-Bakhty section, as the climatic conditions in this region allow construction to continue during the winter. To avoid interrupting work, we will carry out operations on the Bakhty–Ayagoz section throughout the year whenever possible. When the snow melts in spring, and once the earthworks are completed, we will proceed with laying the sleeper grid,» noted contracting organization representative Kairat Akparov.
