One of the key events in the field of law and
business in Central Asia took place in Uzbekistan. The International Legal
Forum was held in Tashkent, bringing together leading lawyers, IT specialists,
representatives of international organizations, and scholars from over 40
countries. Participants discussed issues such as digital law, the protection of
personal digital data, and the regulation of artificial intelligence (AI).
Experts emphasized the significance of this platform in laying a strong
foundation for a digital future and transformation.
«These Law Spring meetings here in Tashkent
are very important for us because that is an excellent opportunity to meet many
lawyers from the whole world and many notaries from the region as well. And
discuss the most important topic at stake. Digital tools, digital issues, it’s essential
because that is the tool we use every day to bring legal certainty to customers,
to clients in every country,» noted Lionel Galliez, President of the
International Union of Notaries, France.
«I believe that with AI as a co-pilot, courts,
judges, lawyers around the world are able to deliver justice and fairness at an
even higher scale than ever before, but AI makes mistakes. They are not yet
ready to replace humans, so we need to understand how can the legal profession
leverage AI as it is today. And what that will look like in the future,» said Keyt
Karter, Professor, Singapore.
Uzbekistan is placing great emphasis on
modernizing public administration and digitalizing public services.
Additionally, the country has adopted a Strategy for the Development of
Artificial Intelligence Technologies until 2030 and launched online platforms
and integrated knowledge bases.
«Uzbekistan is also currently implementing information
and communication technologies in the field of legal regulation and the
provision of public services. In particular, in 2023, the system of legal
protection and the process of obtaining legal protection for intellectual
property objects were digitalized,» noted Boburkhon Abbossov, Lead Consultant
of the Department, Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan.
