Sagadat Nurmagambetov’s legacy is
deeply ingrained in the history of Kazakhstan. He was an outstanding military
leader who laid the groundwork for the creation of the Armed Forces of the
independent country, epitomizing strength, courage, and patriotism for many
generations. Nurmagambetov’s life path was discussed in Astana at the national
scientific and practical conference dedicated to the 100th birth anniversary of
the country’s first Minister of Defense, Hero of the Soviet Union, and Halyk
Kaharmany. The event was attended by veterans of the Armed Forces, officers,
cadets, and students of military vocational institutions. According to
attendees, there is still more to learn about Nurmagambetov’s personality,
indicating the importance of conducting further research in this area.
“He was a versatile person with a
phenomenal memory. He had an extensive knowledge of history and geography. I
was truly astonished; despite being 85-90 years old, he remembered everything
down to the smallest details. For us all, he was certainly a role model,” said
Sagadat Nurmagambetov’s granddaughter Lira Nurmagambetova.
“History testifies to the
invaluable contribution he made to the formation of the country’s Armed Forces
after gaining independence. Even during challenging times, training exercises
were still conducted regularly,” said Lieutenant General Abai Tasbulatov.
