Citizens of 17 countries evacuated from Iran via Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan is ensuring the safe evacuation of foreign citizens from Iran through its territory. Amid limited air travel and the escalating situation in the Middle East, the country provides round-the-clock transit. In addition, evacuees in Ashgabat are being accommodated in hotels, provided with meals, and escorted to their next destinations. More than 150 people have already crossed the border, and plans are underway to evacuate over 250 citizens from 17 countries. They are evacuated primarily via the Turkmen city of Serakhs. Additionally, four more checkpoints and a border post have been opened to evacuate citizens of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. All operations are conducted in close coordination with foreign diplomatic missions in Ashgabat.

«We were met by border guards and volunteers who showed genuine humanity and provided support. We are now in Ashgabat, from where we plan to fly home to Helsinki. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to leave the conflict zone safely and unharmed,» citizen of Finland Khabib Muhammed said.

«We reached the border safely and did not encounter any serious difficulties along the way. Everything was organized calmly and securely. We are now returning home and will be monitoring the situation, considering our next steps. However, if the situation in Iran calms down and becomes safe, we would like to return and continue our studies. Above all, we are extremely grateful for the provision of such a safe corridor,» student Ma Jiayue shared.
