A series of senior
appointments has been made in Kazakhstan as part of the implementation of the
country’s new Constitution. By presidential decree, Aslambek Mergaliyev has
been reappointed Chairman of the Supreme Court, a position he has held since
December 2022. Kanatbek Zhaisanbayev has been named Deputy Chairman of the
Kazakhstan Khalyk Kenesi (People's Council) and Head of its Secretariat. He
previously headed the Citizens' Appeals Oversight Department within the
Presidential Administration. Berik Assylov has also been reappointed Prosecutor
General, a position he has held since 2022.
