Kazakhstan produced more than 68 billion cubic meters of gas last year. As of early 2026, the country’s gasification rate exceeded 64%. The goal is to increase this figure to 80%. The Government discussed the development of the gas sector. According to forecasts, Kazakhstan’s commercial gas production is expected to reach 31.3 billion cubic meters by 2030. The Government noted that achieving this goal will require accelerating the geological exploration of new promising areas, introducing modern exploration technologies, and expanding the resource base. The construction of a second line of the Beineu-Bozoi-Shymkent gas pipeline, as well as the new Ishim-Astana gas pipeline, is expected to improve the reliability of gas supplies to the regions and give further impetus to the country’s industrialization. The Government also instructed the creation of a unified digital platform for gas accounting and the introduction of a transparent mechanism for allocating gas volumes.
«The state is allocating significant funds
for the implementation of major infrastructure projects in the sector. It is
important to ensure guaranteed orders for domestic producers. Therefore, I instruct the Ministries of Industry and Energy, together with the Samruk-Kazyna
Fund, to approve within one month a list of
oil and gas equipment that will be procured exclusively from Kazakh
producers. Amid constantly growing domestic consumption,
available gas volumes should be
directed primarily to meet the needs of the population and support the
development of high-tech industries,» noted Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.
