The Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan, Bagdat Mussin, addressed to the CEO of Apple with a proposal to add automatic transliteration from Cyrillic to Latin in the new version of the iOS operating system. According to the minister, this will allow Kazakh citizens to quickly adapt to the Latin alphabet.

“On behalf of all Kazakh citizens, I thank Tim Cook for adding the Kazakh language to iOS and other various features, including autocorrect. We will be proud if Apple adds automatic transliteration from Cyrillic to Latin to help our people get used to the Latin alphabet,” said Kazakh Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry Bagdat Mussin.

Recently Apple introduced the iOS 16 mobile operating system. Kazakh language became the system language for the first time. The novelty can be tested on all latest generation iPhone models. Old devices will remain on the previous version of the operating system.
