The Days of Azerbaijani Culture are being held in
Kazakhstan. As part of this event, a bilateral memorandum was signed in Astana
between the National Libraries of the two countries to strengthen cultural and
humanitarian ties. Also contributing to this goal is the newly opened corner of
Azerbaijani literature in the capital’s library, which offers readers access to
over 250 books that explore the history, traditions and customs of the
Azerbaijani people. Notably, the library currently hosts 27 book corners
representing different countries.
«A special roadmap has been developed, and a working
group has been established under the instruction of the Head of State to create
a digital library of Turkic states, which will include rare books and
manuscripts. We value this cooperation, as the National Library of Azerbaijan
has a rich collection of books that includes historical information,» said Gaziza Nurgaliyeva, head of the National Academic
Library of Kazakhstan.
The event continued with the presentation of a book in
Kazakh by People’s Writer of Azerbaijan, Elmira Akhundova. Her work, «Zarifa
and Heydar Aliyev - Eternal Love», portrays the family life of two
prominent figures in the country. The author traces their entire journey from
childhood to adulthood, touching on all aspects, from raising children to
professional achievements.
«We gained personal access to Heydar Aliyev’s
extensive archive. There were many fascinating materials, and I incorporated
all of them into my book. When there is access to the personal archive, when
objectivity is present, and when the figure is portrayed in a comprehensive
manner, the book becomes engaging,» Akhundova said.
During these days, every resident and guest of Astana
can learn more about the culture of Azerbaijan. The capital is hosting lectures
on the country’s contemporary art and the iconography of Tomiris, as well as a
crafts exhibition and concerts featuring folk artists, renowned musicians, and
dance ensembles.
«The language of culture is universal, with no barriers or borders, and our cultures—the cultures of Turkic countries—are very closely connected. I can feel the warmth and interest from the audience in Kazakhstan. The cultural sphere plays a significant role in our relations, which are currently developing actively and are already at a very high level,» said Oleg Amirbekov, Advisor to the Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan.
It is worth noting that the Days of Kazakh Culture in
Azerbaijan were held in Baku in December of last year.
