‘Cinderella’ ballet premieres at Astana Opera theatre

An old fairy tale with a modern twist - the world premiere of the ballet ‘Cinderella’ in a new interpretation was held in Astana Opera. The unique interpretation of the famous fairytale and the abundance of subtle humor provided the audience with an opportunity to look at the main characters from a different perspective. Cinderella is transformed into a modern girl striving for self-realization as a couturier, and her chosen Prince appears as a composer and DJ. The new play is a successful attempt to modernize the plot and convey to the audience the timeless principles of morality, which say that love and the pursuit of the dream are stronger than all life's adversities. Choreographer Raimondo Rebeck created a completely new performance designed for the audiences of different ages. It embodies the symbiosis of classical music with elements of jazz, pop and other modern styles.

“The idea is presented in a new way. That’s why people need to see this ballet. They need to experience and feel the story with us. We will give the audience a great emotion. It will not leave anyone indifferent. I’m sure everyone will get what they need. I am very happy that our theater has made such a unique and modern ballet performance,” said Astana Opera’s leading soloist Gaukhar Ussina.
