The Astana
International Airport served a record-breaking 7.5 million passengers.
Bauyrzhan Seitkaziyev, traveling with his family on the Almaty-Astana route,
became the milestone passenger and received a warm welcome at the airport of
the country’s capital. Seitkaziyev expressed his genuine surprise and
admiration for the solemn reception organized upon their arrival.
“During the flight,
we were informed that the 7.5 millionth passenger was aboard our plane.
However, they said the identity of the passenger would be revealed after
landing. Upon arrival, we saw our names - mine, my wife’s, and our child's -
listed as the mentioned passengers. Such things always happen unexpectedly. It
was a pleasant surprise for us,” Seitkaziyev said.
Compared to the
previous year, passenger traffic has increased by a quarter, as reported by the
Civil Aviation Committee of the Kazakh Ministry of Transport. On average, the
Astana airport operates over 200 flights daily. In the first 11 months of the
year, the figure has already exceeded 30,000 flights.
“In 2019, we
welcomed our six millionth passenger. Now, we are welcoming the 7.5-millionth
passenger, summing up the results for the past 11 months,” Yergazy Zholdassov,
Chairman of the Astana International Airport, said.
