Students from 22 Kazakh universities
participated in the Young Scientist national scientific conference, held for
the seventh time at Nazarbayev University (NU). This traditional event,
dedicated to Science Workers Day, also marked the 180th anniversary of the
great Kazakh poet and philosopher Abai Kunanbaiuly. Students discussed Abai’s
legacy and his influence on education and science in the 21st century. Organizers
highlighted that such forums provide an opportunity for students to conduct
in-depth research in the Kazakh language, refine their public speaking skills,
and build scientific communities among young people interested in studying the
works of prominent Kazakh figures.
«Overall, the school curriculum should foster
new perspectives and a renewed respect for Abai to analyze his works,
understand his personality and the time in which he lived and created. I
believe that if students approach Abai’s works, his legacy, songs, and
philosophy with a focus on innovation and modernity, it will truly contribute
to the development of strong individuals,» said Meiramgul Kussainova, professor
at the NU’s Kazakh Language and Turkic Studies Department.
