Astana hosts world-class equestrian tournament for first time

For the first time, Astana hosted three major international tournaments across three disciplines of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI), including a World Cup stage. The main event of the tournament was the Grand Prix with obstacles reaching 160 cm. These competitions serve as qualifiers for the World Championship, which will be held in Aachen, Germany. Winners of national stages from more than 20 countries across Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, and Europe took part. Kazakhstan was represented by 11 athletes in the show jumping discipline. Holding three tournaments under the auspices of the International Equestrian Federation marked an important step in strengthening Kazakhstan’s position in the global equestrian sport.

«A World Cup stage was held in April. Two stages took place in Tashkent, followed by another in Bishkek. The current stage in Astana is the final one. Each country hosts its own competition, with riders competing the same course. Judges travel to each event to record the results. The top 20 competitors advance to the final. The event taking place in Astana is the final stage of the competition, where the overall champion will be determined,» noted Aset Tolkumbekov, Head Coach of the National Equestrian Team of Kazakhstan.
