Experts discuss role of Kazakhstan’s Constitution in Astana

Kazakhstan is preparing to mark the 30th anniversary of its Constitution, with more than 30 major events planned across the country. At the Presidential Archive, a roundtable brought together members of parliament, judges, and scholars to discuss the role of the Constitution through historical materials. Participants emphasized that the values enshrined in the Constitution serve as the foundation of the nation’s stability and sustainable development. Special attention was given to the work of the Constitutional Court. A thematic exhibition was also held, showcasing drafts, expert opinions, and citizens’ proposals on the Constitution’s development. These materials stand as tangible evidence of how the Fundamental Law was shaped and its role in the formation of Kazakh statehood.

«These are primarily originals — letters and appeals from citizens, as well as correspondence from civil society institutions, state authorities, public administration bodies, and private individuals. Each is unique. The collection also includes proposals received during discussions of the draft Constitution at diplomatic missions accredited abroad,» said Sholpan Tlepina, Sector Head at the Center for Scientific and Applied Research, Kazakh President’s Archive.
