Astana hosts «We are not Alone» exhibition of Kazakh and Austrian artists

Art without boundaries - an exhibition featuring artists from Kazakhstan and Austria, titled «We are not Alone,» has opened in Astana. The unique exposition showcases over 50 works by Kazakh artist Akzhan Ali and foreign master of the brush Gerald Florian Messner. Both artists work in the same direction of painting – abstract expressionism. Interestingly, Akzhan Ali developed an interest in this art form just a few years ago and has since gained recognition, participating in several exhibition projects, including international ones. She has also become a corresponding member of the Academy of Arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan and an Honorary Member of the Union of Artists of Astana.

«The dripping technique – splattering paint – is how I convey my emotions and feelings through art. All of my works in this style are recent, created since 2023. I aspire to reach the global stage with my artwork. As a representative of Kazakhstan, I want to continue growing and showcasing my work to the world,» said artist Akzhan Ali.

Gerald Florian Messner is passionate not only about painting but also about cinema, music, and science. Thanks to his unique style, the artist’s name is well known to audiences worldwide. Over the past few years, he has been living and creating his paintings in Kazakhstan. According to him, the modern appearance of the capital, combined with the country’s natural wealth, serves as inspiration for his new works.

«I love Kazakhstan very much, and that’s why I try to paint the art of it as a symbol. A cross-cultural exchange is very important because ultimately, we all are a big family and relate to each other. So, we are a big family and therefore we have to know that we are not alone,» noted Austrian artist Gerald Florian Messner.

The project by artists from Kazakhstan and Austria marks the opening of the exhibition series «Dialogue through Culture». The vernissage is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan and is presented at the Presidential Center in the capital.
