The «KitapTime-2024» nationwide festival has kicked
off in Kazakhstan. This year, the event is taking place for the third time. It
featured a presentation of new unique literary and digital projects in Astana,
including the «100 Books for Rural Libraries» initiative. Guests were also
introduced to the «QR-adebiet» project designed to provide convenient access
for readers to books while downloading them via QR codes on their smartphones.
«Addressing the Kurultai, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that the interest in reading should be cultivated in children from school, and the library should be a place where this interest is concentrated. The large national project «QR-adebiet» has nine directions, and is available by scanning a QR code with a phone», said Gaziza Nurgaliyeva, head of the National Academic Library of Kazakhstan.
As part of the event, a
memorandum of cooperation was signed with the airline for the placement of
audio content to allow passengers to listen to works during flights. A total of
25 audiobooks were provided to the company, and this number will be increased
in the future.
