Astana hosts Demo Day on industrial digitalization

Successful applications of artificial intelligence in Kazakh enterprises were showcased today at Astana Hub’s Demo Day. One example is a new technology that can detect anomalies in the operation of any equipment. Before a machine fails, the AI provides an early warning, helping to reduce unplanned downtime and cut costs, developers say. Project creators emphasize that AI solutions play a key role in diversifying the economy and accelerating the technological development of the country’s industry. Participants also discussed AI tools that can automate the collection and processing of information.

«According to statistics, last year 19% of enterprises implemented digital tools for automation, and this year that share is expected to rise to 23%. Digitalization is progressing; however, AI technologies are still in the initial stages of adoptionsaid Azamat Panbayev, Chairman of Kazakhstan’s Industry Committee.

«We have developed infrastructure that is nearly ready for AI implementation. The first example, of course, is that all mining and natural resource extraction begins with geology. Today, we are completing the construction of a geological cluster in the city of Zhezkazgan. This cluster will house state-of-the-art tools, including AI, enabling us to analyze core samples more quickly and efficiently and to provide forecasts for our deposits,» said Saken Shayakhmetov, Managing Director for Sustainable Development and Communications at Kazakhmys Corporation.
