Since 2022, the
Anti-Corruption Agency has returned more than one trillion tenge in illegal
assets to the country, with nearly half of this amount being returned last year,
as reported by the Chairman of the Agency Askhat Zhumagali to President Kassym-Jomart
Tokayev. As a result of monitoring public procurement, the Agency has also
prevented the irrational use of over 87 billion tenge. Furthermore, the Agency
is involved in overseeing important infrastructure and social projects in the
country, including in the road sector. It actively collaborates with
international counterparts, having signed memoranda with Azerbaijan, Russia,
Hong Kong, Jordan, and Qatar. The Anti-Corruption Agency is implementing
recommendations from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development
(OECD) and the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO). As a result, two
draft laws on implementing advanced international practices were submitted to
the Mazhilis, the Lower House of the Kazakh Parliament.
