Kazakhstan will be one
of the main destinations for astro-tourism in the upcoming year, according to the
latest Euronews Travel Trend Report 2025 edition. Travelers are currently
seeking ideal spots for observing celestial phenomena. Kazakhstan, known for
its sweeping steppes and remote regions free from light pollution, is perfectly
suited for this. The country’s nightscapes offer unique opportunities for
stargazing enthusiasts. Meanwhile, Kazakh Tourism National Company is working
on creating special infrastructure to advance this sector, as well as
developing routes and excursions with professional astronomers. One of the best
locations, for example, is the Assy Plateau in the Almaty region, which
features an astrophysics observatory for stargazing.
«Kazakhstan, of
course, offers not only stargazing tours but is also ready to create all the
necessary conditions due to the growing trend of astro-tourism. Specifically,
this includes the establishment of designated observation points away from
cities, where campsites will be set up for tourists to stop and enjoy the star-filled
skies. Overall, we should create more opportunities for travel and recreation,»
noted Daniyel Serzhanuly, Deputy Chairman of the Kazakh Tourism National
Company.
