Almaty has been
recognized as the best tourist destination at an international exhibition in
Qatar. The major tourism industry event featured participation from around 60
countries and attracted over 12,000 visitors. Attendees had the opportunity to
explore the natural beauty and cultural sites of Kazakhstan's metropolis, sample
traditional national cuisine, try on traditional Kazakh attire, and enjoy folk
music.
«Our participation in
the exhibition aims to introduce international partners, investors, and foreign
tourists to Almaty's rich tourist potential, including its unique natural
landscapes, and diversity of cultural and historical sites. Particular
attention was given to strengthening the city’s position as a key tourist
destination for residents of the Persian Gulf countries, as this market shows
great interest in our city,» noted Yerkebulan Abikhan, Acting Deputy Head of
Almaty City Tourism Department.
Over the first six
months of this year, more than 300,000 foreign tourists visited Almaty, marking
a 15 percent increase compared to 2023. By the end of the year, about 600,000
travelers are expected to have visited the metropolis.
