Kazakhstan to introduce export duty on sunflower seed

Kazakhstan is planning to introduce customs duty on the export of sunflower seed. The country also intends to impose a quota on sunflower oil starting from January 2023, the Kazakh Ministry of Trade and Integration announced. In 2021, Kazakhstan exported 97,000 tonnes of sunflower oil worth almost US$117 million. In October this year, the country shipped abroad over 5,500 tonnes of sunflower seeds. A total of 60 percent of sunflower oil is supplied to Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, China, the Czech Republic, Lithuania and Turkey.
