A record-breaking 12,000
kilometers of highways are planned to be covered during this road construction
season in Kazakhstan. Thus, repairs and construction will continue on more than
5,000 kilometers of national network roads and over 4,000 kilometers of local
roads. Overall, over 2,000 kilometers of new highways are planned to be put
into operation. Furthermore, a new large-scale program for medium repairs of
highways, focusing on reinforcing structures, is currently underway in the
country, the Kazakh Transport Ministry reports.
«The main efforts will also focus
on completing the reconstruction of key corridors, including the
Astana-Balkhash-Almaty, Taldykorgan-Oskemen, Aktobe-Kandyagash, and
Atyrau-Astrakhan routes. Work is planned to commence on the
Kyzylorda-Zhezkazgan highway section in the Ulytau region, Aktobe-Kyzylorda
along the Aktobe-Ulgaissyn and Kyzylorda-Saksaul sections,
Karagandy-Zhezkazgan, and the bypass of Saryagash city,» said Lyazzat
Stamgaziyeva, spokesperson for the Kazakh Ministry of Transport.
Meanwhile, road repairs in
Kazakhstan will now exclusively use domestically produced materials, with
expert quality control. Representatives of the Kazakhstan Road Research Institute,
media, and the public of the Aktobe region visited asphalt plants to verify
their compliance with quality standards and regulations. They also inspected
quarries and laboratories in the region and reviewed the progress of
construction on the Aktobe-Kandyagash highway.
«Since last year, our institute
has been surveying all stone quarries across Kazakhstan. According to
preliminary data, there are 842 quarries in the country. After surveying eight
regions last year, we continued the surveys in the remaining nine regions this
year. As a result, a currently operational unified database of road
construction materials has been established, which includes a GIS map of the
quarries,» said Meiramgul Kabdygaliyeva, spokesperson for the Kazakhstan Road
Research Institute.
«Currently, following the instructions
of the Transport Ministry, the Kazakhstan Road Research Institute is inspecting
all asphalt concrete plants to be included in our RCMBase database. Detailed
information regarding their capacity and productivity will be recorded. After
inspection, each plant is assigned a status. Specifically, we award five stars
to those facilities that fully comply with the standards of modernized asphalt
concrete plants and possess all required documentation,» Kairat
Mukhambetkaliyev, spokesperson for the Kazakhstan Road Research Institute,
said.
Overall, the phased
implementation of new projects aimed at enhancing Kazakhstan’s transit
potential and modernizing its transport infrastructure will continue until
2031.
