Akmola region farmers complete sowing preparations

Farmers in the Akmola region are set to begin spring sowing in early May, with all preparations for the campaign now complete. The region holds a leading position in Kazakhstan’s agricultural sector. This year, more than five million hectares are expected to be planted with grain crops, and the area allocated for oilseeds has also been increased. Local farmers have sufficient stocks of seeds, fuel, and lubricants, and their equipment is ready. They are receiving state support under the Ken Dala 2 program, which has already provided preferential loans totalling 32 billion tenge at an interest rate of 5%. An additional 14 billion tenge in funding and fertilizer subsidies are also planned.

«Diversification is underway: we are reducing wheat planting and shifting our focus to oilseeds. This is an important step, as there were challenges with wheat last year—it was difficult to sell. Oilseeds, however, sell better, so we are adjusting our strategy accordingly,» said farm director Abilkaiyr Oshakbayev.
