814 people were evacuated from the snow captivity in Kazakhstan in 24 hours. According to the emergency response team of the country’s Ministry of Emergency Situations, 101 children and three pregnant women were among those rescued. In total, about 540 people and about 30 vehicles were involved in the rescue operations.
“They really helped us out. We were literally 10 kilometers away from home and we were just sitting there not knowing what to do,” said one of the rescued.
“On March 29, a total of 273 cases of power outages and 106 roof breakdowns on administrative and residential buildings were reported throughout the country. There are currently 1,434 vehicles at the various checkpoints, of which 946 are cars, as well as 428 trucks and six buses,” informed Talgat Uali, spokesperson for Kazakh Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Storm warning is maintained in most of the country. Road and air traffic from Nur-Sultan, Karagandy and Pavlodar is still closed in all directions.
