A total of 1.5 trillion tenge in investments will be attracted for the development of Alatau City. The city’s master plan and a Development Roadmap have been approved, including 32 investment projects covering logistics, construction, and industrial production. The city will be built 50 kilometers from Almaty and is expected to become an economic, innovation, and technology hub. In addition, it will be part of the ‘New Silk Road’ initiative. The city will be divided into four districts, each with a designated specialization. One will serve as a center for science and medicine, another as a business district, the third as an industrial zone, and the fourth as a tourist hub. The city will focus on implementing AI-based solutions. Alatau City will feature smart residential complexes, intelligent traffic management systems, and modern automated industrial facilities. Overall, the city is expected to become a center for business, science, and education. Its population is projected to reach 1.8 million by 2050.
«The city is planned to be built from scratch and, as a result, will be far more convenient in many ways than the country’s two largest megacities, with infrastructure developed in advance, a smart city in place, and even parking facilities carefully planned,» said expert Kanat Akhatov.
«Financing will be provided through both the state fund and the local budget. At the same time, the withdrawal of funds from Alatau city’s budget to the national budget is prohibited. All financial resources will be directed exclusively toward the city’s development,» noted Nurtai Sabilyanov, a member of the Mazhilis, the Lower House of the Kazakh Parliament.
