A total of 16 technology solutions in the fields of healthcare, education, Deep Tech, and artificial intelligence were presented in Astana. The capital hosted NURIS Demo Day, the final stage of a business incubation program aimed at supporting young startups. Among the projects was the unique AI platform Math Galaxy. The service combines computer vision technologies with AI capabilities and serves as an assistant for lecturers and teachers. Using special algorithms, it evaluates handwritten exams and tests completed by school and university students. According to its developers, the system can instantly recognize texts written in Kazakh and Russian, identify errors, and achieve a 99% match with grades assigned by teachers. The developers believe that this solution will not only reduce teachers’ workload but also make education more personalized.
«At present, the main problem is that teachers are heavily overworked because they have to grade a large number of homework assignments and exams. A single teacher is often responsible for 200–300 school or university students. We developed an application that speeds up this process. What used to take hours now takes just minutes,» noted Galizhan Tolybayev, the Founder of the AI platform Math Galaxy.
Artificial intelligence is also being increasingly integrated into the healthcare sector. The startup mendiSkin is a platform designed for the early detection of skin cancer. The development enables users to assess the condition of their skin independently through a mobile application, while providing doctors with additional tools for analyzing and monitoring patients. The team of young developers is currently continuing clinical trials of the technology and working to improve the accuracy of the AI model.
«To train the
model, we collect specialized dermatological images taken with a dermatoscope
in hospitals. The images themselves, as well as patient data in general, are
protected and encrypted. A key requirement for medical data in our country is
that it must be stored on servers located in Kazakhstan. Therefore, we adhere
to this rule,» said
MendiSkin project Founder Symbat Bayakhmetova.
