Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with members of the public in the Zhambyl region. He highlighted the region’s importance—not only from a historical perspective. Today, the regional economy is growing at a steady pace. This year, around 600 billion tenge in investments have been attracted, creating over 63,000 jobs. As the Head of State noted, strong regions form the foundation of a strong nation. This is already evident: Kazakhstan is now an active participant on the global stage, and its economy is the largest in Central Asia and the South Caucasus. Following international meetings this year, commercial agreements totaling more than $70 billion have been signed.
«The Central Asia Plus format is becoming increasingly relevant. This year, the countries of the region held joint talks with the European Union, Italy, China, Russia, the U.S., and Japan. Kazakhstan accounts for more than 60% of all investments attracted to the region. Along with investments come cutting-edge technologies and expertise; joint scientific and technological centers are being established, and branches of foreign universities are opening. There are no closed borders or jurisdictions for domestic goods and businesses,» Tokayev said.
Overall, Kazakhstan maintains a neutral position and pursues a balanced foreign policy amid global instability and a complex geopolitical situation. This creates favorable conditions for the country’s development. Kazakhstan is pursuing a course of radical transformation. Constitutional reform has been implemented, and large-scale economic reforms are underway. All of this is yielding concrete results.
«Over the past five years, Kazakhstan’s economy has grown by 15.8%, and this year, growth has exceeded 6% – the highest level since 2012. GDP per capita has risen by 47%. Gold and foreign exchange reserves, as well as the assets of the National Fund, have reached a record high, surpassing $125 billion,» Tokayev added.
Growth is also evident in the manufacturing sector. Large-scale production facilities are being established across the country—33 factories have been launched this year alone. Over the past decade, gross agricultural output has grown 2.5 times. The government actively supports farmers through financing tools. The country has also achieved significant success in the construction sector, with more than 19 million square meters of housing completed.
«A new Tax Code will come into effect on January 1. The fiscal system is to shift from a model based on control and punishment toward establishing an effective partnership with businesses – a task assigned to the Government. To improve the business climate in the regions, the «Isker Aimaq» program will be launched, primarily aimed at supporting entrepreneurship in rural areas and small towns,» Tokayev noted.
The Head of State also proposed naming a new military boarding school in Taraz after Bauyrzhan Momyshuly. This will be the first educational institution of its kind to open in the south of Kazakhstan. Tokayev conferred the title of Khalyk Kaharmany on the hero and legendary military commander. He also presented state awards to 14 residents of the Zhambyl region for their contributions to the country’s economic and industrial development.
