The coronavirus pandemic will affect the development of architecture and design, said participants of the X International Festival of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Design Schools of Eurasia. Kazakh Leading Academy of Architecture and Civil Engineering (KazGASA) with Novosibirsk State University organized the traditional event online this year. Experts stressed that in the future, city planners will direct all efforts to work out buildings of a completely new format. Specialists will design residential and working spaces taking into account the increased requirements for environmental and epidemiological safety.
“I would like to note that the current situation creates problems on the one hand and opens up new opportunities on the other. The opportunity to take part online is given to a large number of participants. I want to say about the importance of architectural education. It is indeed undergoing changes. I am sure that the situation with the pandemic will also have an impact on how buildings will look in the future. We need to discuss and see all this, what transformations and what changes will be. We also need to take into account new trends,” said Aidar Tatygulov, President, Kazgor Design Academy.
The X international festival was held in conjunction with the 40th anniversary of the Kazakh Leading Academy of Architecture and Civil Engineering and the 60th anniversary of architectural education in Kazakhstan. Representatives of 70 universities from 16 Eurasian countries took part in it.
