Kazakhstan has once again become a global center of interreligious dialogue, where leading experts are seeking solutions to the pressing challenges of our time. The 23rd meeting of the Secretariat of the 8th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions was held in Astana. It focused on shaping the agenda of the upcoming event, the key outcome of which will be the signing of the Astana Declaration of Peace 2025. At the forum, representatives of different faiths will address not only spiritual matters, global conflicts, threats of extremism, and environmental challenges, but also issues of cultural and humanitarian cooperation. The Congress of World Spiritual Leaders will officially open tomorrow, September 17, under the theme “Dialogue of Religions: Synergy for the Future”.
«Our meeting today is taking place in a difficult
international climate, as the system of global relations undergoes change, new
challenges emerge, and existing ones intensify. We are also concerned about the
escalation of humanitarian crises and the destruction of cultural heritage. In
these circumstances, it is essential to unite constructive and creative forces
- and religious leaders have a significant role to play in this,» said Maulen Ashimbayev, Chairman of the Kazakh Senate
and Head of the Congress Secretariat.
