In Astana, the National Museum of Kazakhstan opened exhibitions of fine and folk applied arts of Uzbekistan, unveiling the picturesque nature of the neighboring country, heroes and images from legends and tales, painted jugs and dishes, intricately carved wooden and embossed items, as well as vibrant suzani embroidery by craftsmen from Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara. The expositions feature around 180 works by artists and craftsmen from different generations, including pieces by contemporary masters. According to the organizers, the exhibitions continue the bilateral cultural dialogue that has developed between the countries over the years of independence. Notably, this event is timed to coincide with the state visit of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Kazakhstan.
«We are two branches of one nation, one tree. Therefore, I believe that we will further strengthen our economic, financial and cultural relations. We have numerous joint projects with Kazakh artists. It bears noting that all international projects in Uzbekistan are conducted with the participation of Kazakh artists,» said Akmal Nuriddinov, Chairman at the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan.
«Our historical and cultural heritage is developing not only through exhibitions. For example, the Silk Roads Heritage Corridors include sites in Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and the Kyrgyz Republic. The next one is the Fergana-Syrdarya Corridor. Preliminary works are being carried out jointly with Uzbekistan. It has now entered the provisional UNESCO list,» said Kumis Seitova, Spokesperson for the Kazakh Ministry of Culture and Information.
