Around one hundred unique exhibits showcasing the art of Chinese silk have gone on display in Astana. The exhibition introduces visitors to China’s rich cultural heritage, spanning everything from ancient craftsmanship to contemporary artistic traditions. Featured are exquisite silk fabrics, delicate embroidery, finely tailored traditional costumes, works of decorative and applied art, and rare archaeological artifacts. The diverse collection offers visitors the opportunity to trace the history of sericulture and centuries of cultural exchange along the Great Silk Road. The project is being carried out as part of a five-year cooperation program between museums in Kazakhstan and China and is aimed at strengthening cultural dialogue between the two countries.
«What makes this exhibition unique is that
visitors can learn how silk is produced and how sericulture has evolved to the
present day. In addition to silk itself, we are also showcasing fascinating
artifacts from other regions along the Great
Silk Road, including the city of Turpan. This exhibition is part of a joint
project aimed at promoting the Great Silk Road and
exploring its history,» noted Berik Abdygaliuly, Director of the National Museum of Kazakhstan.
