UN member states commend Kazakhstan’s children’s rights reforms

United Nations (UN) member states have commended Kazakhstan’s reforms in children's rights protection. Kazakhstan continues to implement large-scale legislative and strategic measures to safeguard children's rights, following the directives of the Head of State. These efforts aim to create an effective and comprehensive system for protecting the rights of the most vulnerable groups in society, in line with international standards. Last year, six key laws were adopted in the field of child protection. A central provision of these laws is the introduction of stricter penalties for all forms of violence against children. Additionally, the status of the Children’s Rights Commissioner has been elevated, with representatives now present in every region of the country. A mentorship system has also been introduced, and the staff of child welfare authorities has been expanded. Experts emphasize that ensuring children’s well-being and safety is a top priority of state policy.

«Thus, the measures implemented by the state are aimed at creating the most favorable conditions for children’s growth and development, ensuring their protection, support, and opportunities for quality education and social integration. These efforts lay the foundation for a safe and happy childhood for every young citizen of our country,» said Yedil Ospan, Kazakh Vice Minister of Education.
